About the
AUTHOR
André Duarte P. de Albuquerque was born in Brazil, in the city of Recife (PE), in 1974. He became a teacher, translator and interpreter of the English language, graduated in journalism, and became specialist in Foreign Affairs. Since 2010, through a public tender, he became an Indigenist (a specialist in indigenous peoples) at the Brazilian National Indian Foundation (FUNAI).
In the 1990s, in addition to English and journalism, the author became a student of Capoeira, Yoga, Aikido, Macrobiotics (now known as Lifelong Self-Education) and Rastafari (which he met while living in England). As a result, André was simultaneously involved in teaching and communication methods in the classroom, in journalistic practices of research and analysis of reality, and in experiences and studies on the cultures and life perspectives of the traditional peoples of Brazil and of the world.
In the first decade of the 21st century, in Brasilia, while preparing to attend a public tender, André went deep into studies on foreign affairs, which involved historical processes in Brazil, and in the world. Since joining Funai in 2010, André has had unique experiences with the indigenous and traditional peoples of Brazil and the world. Inspired by a combination of social, political, economic, cultural, spiritual and strategic reflections, the author began to produce works that are intended, in a brief, fluid and accessible way, to stimulate reflections on socially oppressed themes, that are fundamental for uplifting and integrating individuals at times that are crucial to the survival of mankind.
